Lomenick, has won a 2009 CLIDE award from the North Central Texas Council of Governments. The Celebrating Leadership in Development Excellence awards encourage innovative development projects and practices that will help accommodate the region’s growth and ensure a sustainable north Texas for generations to come.
The CLIDE program was created in 2003 to honor development and planning projects that exemplify the region’s Ten Principles of Development Excellence, which include development options, efficient growth, pedestrian design, housing choice, activity centers, environmental stewardship, quality places, transportation efficiency, resource efficiency and implementation.

Stimulus money and the next round of federal transportation spending will send millions of dollars to states for roads, bridges and transit. But will it just be used for more of the same auto-centric projects? That was the question raised by speakers at the American Planning Association, which held its convention in Minneapolis April 25-29.
The last 50 years were spent building the interstate highway system, speakers such as Jeffrey Boothe, a transportation expert and member of the Reconnecting America board of directors, told the planners. “We need to spend the next 50 years building the infrastructure for tomorrow. … We are not there yet in terms of appreciating the importance of that.”
Mariia Zimmerman, vice president of policy for Reconnecting America, said places such as Charlotte and Sacramento have developed regional “blueprints” that can “transform the planning and project delivery process.”
