Urban Life And Noise: Perceptions Of Happiness

The question of whether the everyday noise of urban life impacts life satisfaction or whether Milan's parks are too noisy to enjoy are explored in a pair of articles added to the Research Center best practices database. 

Linking Traffic Noise, Noise Annoyance and Life Satisfaction: A Case Study

The primary purpose of this study was to explore the link between rail and road traffic noise and overall life satisfaction. While the negative relationship between residential satisfaction and traffic noise is relatively well-established, much less is known about the effect of traffic noise on overall life satisfaction. Based on results of previous studies, we propose a model that links objective noise levels, noise sensitivity, noise annoyance, residential satisfaction and life satisfaction.

The Soundscape Quality in Some Urban Parks in Milan, Italy

Urban parks play an important role in preserving and promoting the health of citizens who are often exposed to noise pollution and the stress of daily life. The present study describes the main results obtained from a survey performed in five urban parks in Milan.
