Workshop on Integrated Spatial Development in Practice
Reconnecting America Policy Director Sarah Kline will be addressing the workshop on Integrated Spatial Development in Practice on June 27 at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, DC. The workshop aims to learn from local efforts on Transport Oriented Development (TOD). Kline and the other participants will share their knowledge on TOD efforts, with emphasis on way of making value capture function, for spatial development that is coordinated, attractive, and livable. Speakers will focus on topics related to: the state of TOD practice around the country and some of the innovative financing tools in communities, cases from Portland, Oregon, and Arlington County, Virginia. The workshop is part of the bank's flagship Eco2 Cities initiative “Ecological Cities as Economic Cities" or "Eco2." In this initiative, the city-based integrated approach, is emphasized as a key conceptual element. Having space developed in an integrated way – with transport guiding land development – is particularly important for guiding cities to sustainable pathways. More information is available here.
