The Initiative for Sustainable Communities and States website is a one-stop portal for state and local leaders to connect to the federal Sustainable Communities Partnership between HUD, DOT, and EPA. The site aggregates key updates from all three partnership agencies and the White House. It also publicizes information on relevant webinars, conferences, trainings and projects related to federal sustainability opportunities. In addition to providing federal sustainability news and information about events, organizers hope to establish the site as a vibrant e-networking hub at which to ask questions, trade ideas, and share innovative projects with others around the country.

The Public Policy Institute’s Livable Communities Team conducts research and policy analysis and brings together thought leaders to develop and advance AARP’s public policy agenda on livable communities issues. The team examines critical public policy issues that affect the ability of people to successfully age in their homes and communities by promoting the livability of communities through affordable and accessible housing and mobility options. Our goal is to foster sound and creative solutions that meet the challenges of an aging society and to inform state and national policymakers, opinion leaders, researchers, program planners, and administrators.
