Europe's efforts to create a resource-efficient transport system

More News & Resources:

A decade after the EEA was first asked to examine, 'How do we better integrate the environmental perspective into transport policy?', the agency has released its latest annual assessment, "Towards a resource-efficient transport system."

Key issues addressed in this year's report include a review of the Common Transport Policy, freight transport, passenger transport, greenhouse gas emissions, emissions of regulated pollutants, transport fuels, transport noise, and greenhouse gas mitigation potential.

"This report presents a summary of selected issues from the European Environment Agency Transport and Environment Reporting Mechanism (EEA TERM) set of transport and environment integration indicators," the report explains. "It is not simply a replication of indicators but rather an attempt to put insights from the indicators into the context of efforts to develop European policy towards achieving a low-carbon transport system."

The report is available in the Best Practices.
