Living the Transit-Oriented Lifestyle
Transit-Oriented Development is not just a way to save on infrastructure costs, reduce global warming, and get people to work more efficiently. TOD is a lifestyle, a movement, and a re-awakening of public life. This section of the site is dedicated to the less data-driven aspects of TOD. Here you’ll find links to urban blogs and podcasts, inspiring art and fiction that addresses cities and land use, and everyday people who are passionate about their cities, parks, and trains.

Powering transit with wind...from cars?
Mark Oberholzer of Wittenberg Oberholzer Architects in Houston proposes a unique idea for greening transit: using the wind generated by cars and trucks on freeways as a fuel source. Oberholzer's design was a runner-up in Metropolis Magazine's 2006 Next Generation design contest, and it continues to inspire designers looking for new ways to power transit.

MetroTransit in the Twin Cities teaches us "a new way to move"
This fun notebook-like site gives users a new way to think about how to live the transit lifestyle. Text is highlighted, pages are saved with old photographs and tickets, and scraps of Post-Its litter the site- just like our desks. The lived-in look makes transit and transit life seem familiar and well-worn, traits that are lacking in a lot of newer development.
