A report by SPUR, January 2011
A national High-Speed Rail system is not only an opportunity to redefine how we travel and how our regional economies grow – it represents the type of innovation and progress that can support and catalyze another century of prosperity in America. Because it is by-in-large a new concept in the U.S., however, the extent to which HSR will cause changes in regional economic growth and community development is not widely understood by practitioners, elected leaders and community members. As the federal High-Speed and Intercity Rail program advances, the field of practice and research in this area grows.
